Mr Prolific & Various Artists - 168 Hours EP
Phil Haywood – Saxophonist
 

In 2003 Phil's interest started with music, after joining the “Music For Life Big Band” as a saxophonist, he ended up performing across the UK and Europe playing pieces from artist's like Stevie Wonder, Randy
Crawford and Herbie Hancock to name a few. In 2005 he began his musical career working in the duo “Alternate Perceptions” performing as a saxophonist with the singer songwriter Si Cliff, performing original
material and covers across Northwest England at restaurants, pubs and private functions.

Phil went to Salford University in 2007 and began performing with wedding bands, big bands and in theatre productions across England. Since graduating in 2010 he performs regularly across the UK and has built up a wealth of experience improvising to DJ's, performing with function bands and working as a session musician in recording studios.

In 2013 he started working with music agencies across Cheshire delivering tuition in primary & secondary schools teaching individual, group and class tuition and is one of the directors of "Wincham School of Music".

2005 – 2007 – Alternate Perceptions

Performed original compositions, pop and soul standards & on alto saxophone with the singer songwriter Si
Cliff across North-West England.

2008 – Present – Mr Prolific (Prolific Productions/Broken Biscuits Records/Soundbunker)

As regular session player in Northampton, Phil has and continues to record on various EP's and singles in
many various styles from drum & bass, to house and reggae. Projects include the “168 Hours EP” for the
charity “KidsAid”, and the “Oxygen Thief EP” by the artist “A Human Finger” to name a few. Sessions were
recorded on alto & tenor saxophone, clarinet, flute & keyboard.

2008 – 2010 – “ Adelphi Contemporary Music Group”

Performed pieces by Steve Reich, Philip Glass with original compositions from band members in theatres
and museums across Greater Manchester on baritone saxophone.

2008 – 2010 – “ Salford University Big Band”

Performed music from classic big band repertoire in theatres, golf clubs and universities across Greater
Manchester on baritone saxophone and 1st tenor.

2010 – 2015 “ The Flat 5 Band”

Performed motown, soul, rock and jazz classics at private functions, corporate events, pubs and clubs across
the UK on flute, clarinet, alto and tenor saxophone.

2010 – 2013 “ Hold The Line Band”

Performed music from the 60’s to present day at private functions pubs and clubs across the UK on flute,
clarinet, alto and tenor saxophone. Phil transcribed and interpreted horn parts, string lines and other
embellishments.

2011 – Present “Freelance Teaching ”

Teaching flute, clarinet,saxophone, recorder and ukulele for individuals, schools and colleges across
Cheshire and Greater Manchester.

2013 – Mennis – Kingdom (Jay Z – Somewhere in America Live Band Cover)

Recording session on tenor sax with the artist “Mennis”.

2013 – Lois Davina Live Lounge (LoisDavinaEP)

Recording session on tenor sax with Lois Davina on her released EP.

2013 – 2014 – “ Homegrown UB40”

Performed across the UK on tenor saxophone in a horn section.

2013 – 2017 – “ Cheshire West & Chester / QLP / Edsential Woodwind Tutor ”

Phil taught and put on concerts for small groups and large classes in primary schools across Cheshire in
saxophone, flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone , euphonium and glockenspiel.

2014 – 2017 – “ Music for Life Woodwind and Ukulele Tutor ”

Here Phil taught and put on concerts for individual and classes in secondary and primary schools across
Cheshire in saxophone, flute, clarinet and ukulele.

2014 – 2017 – “ Plan 6 Trio”

Performed traditional, fusion & contemporary styles of jazz across the UK on flute, clarinet & saxophones.

2014 – Present – “ Freelance Musician ”

Currently freelancing as a multi instrumentalist for wedding, jazz bands, and DJ's across the UK.

2016 – The Shady 80's – Merchants of Menance EP

Recording session on tenor sax with the Shady 80's for their released EP.

2018 – Present “ Genre Music”

Currently working for “Genre Music” as a saxophonist improvising alongside DJ's across North-West
England.
